Self-Discovery Through Psychoanalysis: Uncovering the Past, Shaping the Future
Psychoanalysis: A Deeper Kind of Exploration
Have you ever felt stuck in certain patterns; maybe in your relationships, emotional reactions, or how some situations affect you more than you think they “should”? You might feel that something deeper is influencing your life, but it is hard to pinpoint. Psychoanalysis can help uncover those hidden layers. It is a space where we can gently explore the layers of your mind, your past experiences, unconscious beliefs, and emotional patterns, so you can start to understand yourself in a more meaningful way. This understanding is the key to real, lasting change.
Psychoanalysis is more than just finding relief from symptoms. It is about uncovering the root causes of what has been troubling you, including the parts of your mind that are harder to see. Think of the unconscious mind as the hidden part of an iceberg: though you cannot see it, it has a powerful influence on how you think, feel, and connect with others.
Together, we will bring these hidden parts of your mind into the light, at a pace that feels right for you. We will explore early relationships, forgotten memories, and even emotional reactions that may not seem to make sense. It is all about understanding yourself in a deeper, more compassionate way. As we explore these layers, you will begin to notice shifts in how you experience the world. Instead of reacting automatically, you will start to understand why you feel the way you feel. This insight opens up new possibilities for healing, growth, and emotional freedom.
This work takes time, and it does ask something of you. You will meet with me 3-5 times per week, and at times, you will talk about things you have never said out loud before. The process may feel slow or uncertain at times, but over time, you will start to notice changes, not just in how you feel, but in how you live, relate, and experience yourself.
You will have a consistent, supportive space where you can speak freely and be heard, without judgment. And I will be right there with you as we navigate your inner world together.

Psychoanalysis is particularly helpful for those who want to explore deeper layers of their mind, understand long-standing emotional challenges, and gain insight into their unconscious patterns. This work is a good fit for you if you are experiencing any of the following:
Repeating emotional or relationship patterns that feel out of your control, even when you do not want to.
Difficulty with intimacy or unresolved struggles in relationships.
Feelings of low self-esteem, confusion about your identity, or emotional numbness.
Ongoing feelings of anxiety, inner conflict, or a vague sense of unease.
Unresolved childhood experiences or past trauma that continue to affect your present.
Self-sabotaging behaviors, addictive tendencies, or chronic guilt and shame.
Creative blocks or difficulty expressing yourself emotionally or artistically.
Psychosomatic symptoms (physical symptoms with no clear medical cause).
A longing for deeper insight into your life, purpose, or personal growth.
This therapy works best when you are ready to reflect, commit, and explore your inner world at a deeper level. While it may not be suited for acute crises or instability, it can be incredibly powerful for long-standing emotional struggles or anyone seeking a richer understanding of themselves.

Psychoanalysis is not for everyone. But for those who feel drawn to this kind of deep, reflective work, it can be life-altering. It is not about “fixing” yourself; it is about discovering who you truly are beneath the patterns and pain.
If you are ready to go beyond the surface and step into a fuller, more connected version of yourself, I am here to walk with you on that path.
As Freud once said: “One day, in retrospect, the years of struggle will strike you as the most beautiful.”

Psychoanalysis is a personal journey that explores both your conscious and unconscious thoughts and emotions in a safe, welcoming space. As your psychoanalyst, I listen not only to your words but to the feelings and thoughts beneath the surface, helping you reflect and better understand yourself.
At the core of this process is a long-term relationship. Unlike quick advice, psychoanalysis offers a consistent, caring connection where you are met with empathy. Together, we will navigate life’s challenges and begin real, lasting change.
An important part of this work is transference, where past relationship dynamics may arise in our sessions. These moments reveal insights into how you connect with others, allowing us to explore and build healthier ways of relating.
While focusing on the present, we also acknowledge how past experiences shape current struggles. Through therapy, we bring these patterns to light, creating space for healing and growth.
As you gain deeper self-understanding, you will be able to make lasting changes that bring greater fulfillment. I am here to accompany you on your journey, offering support and guidance as we explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences together.

Free Association
Imagine having a space where you can say anything, no filters, no judgment. In free association, you are encouraged to let your thoughts flow freely, whether they are memories, feelings, or even random ideas. This process often uncovers hidden conflicts and patterns, helping you understand yourself on a deeper level.Dream Analysis
Ever wonder what your dreams are really trying to tell you? In psychoanalysis, dreams are seen as a gateway to your unconscious mind, filled with symbols and hidden messages. Your therapist works with you to explore these meanings, uncovering repressed desires and emotions that might be influencing your daily life.Transference & Countertransference
Have you ever caught yourself reacting to someone as if they were a figure from your past; maybe treating a boss like a strict parent? That is transference. In therapy, you might unconsciously project feelings from past relationships onto your therapist, which can reveal deep-seated patterns. On the flip side, countertransference is when the therapist experiences their own emotional reactions to you. When explored thoughtfully, both can offer profound insights into your inner world.Interpretation
Ever have an “aha” moment when someone points out a pattern you had not noticed before? That is what interpretation in therapy is all about. Your therapist listens closely to your words, dreams, and interactions, offering insights that help bring unconscious emotions and behaviors into the light. This process can help you make connections that lead to real change.Resistance
Have you ever changed the subject or brushed off an emotion without realizing why? That is resistance at play. Sometimes, certain topics or feelings are so uncomfortable that we unconsciously avoid them. A skilled therapist gently notices these moments, helping you explore them safely so you can understand what is really beneath the surface.Working Through
Growth is not just about having insights; it is about revisiting, refining, and truly integrating them into your life. Working through is the ongoing process of facing unconscious emotions, testing new perspectives, and making lasting shifts in how you think and feel. It is a journey, but each step brings you closer to meaningful, lasting change.

The depth of psychoanalysis comes from regular sessions. Typically, there are 3-5 sessions per week. The frequency of sessions does not reflect the severity of your issues. This consistency allows unconscious patterns to emerge more clearly and gives you the space to work through them deeply. Over time, this steady exploration fosters self-awareness and transformation. More frequent sessions can accelerate the process and bring quicker insights, but they may also surface intense emotions. Together, we will find a pace that feels comfortable and manageable for you.
The Couch
Some psychoanalysts choose to use a couch as part of the process to help you relax and turn inward. This method helps you feel more at ease and can promote deeper self-reflection. However, it is always your choice whether you prefer this approach or not. I prefer sitting at the side so you can decide whether or not to see me, depending on your comfort. This setup fosters a deeper connection with your unconscious mind and enhances self-awareness.
